Something doesn’t smell right in Switzerland this week. Switzerlands competition commission have paid a visit to some of the luxury brands including L’Oreal SA, Dior SA and Chanel SA. The labels may be fined after sufficient evidence was found of price fixing cosmetics and perfume. We play the waiting game now, as the companies are yet to respond to the allegations. The size of the penalties and possible fines for cartel-rules will all be confirmed once the companies are investigated.
Whilst L’Oreal spokeswoman Stephanie Carson-Parker currently denies ‘any breach of the cartel act that could have been intended to distort competition’, it is apparent that Switzerland is not proving to be so neutral after all.
