Burberry's plaid pattern will never go out of fashion… at least that’s what the luxury brand is counting on as they continue to invest heavily in their signature style, which was once splashed on everything from scarves to suitcases.
And it looks like this conservative approach is working as sales recently rose 21% - certainly something to celebrate for the company that recently posted a £6 million (approx $12 million AUS$) loss for the year through to March 31.
So let’s hope that plaid paves the way for Burberry. In a recent Wall Street Journal article (Burberry Goes Back To Basics), their Chief Executive Angela Ahrendts is openly optimistic about the brand’s future, suggesting, “the effects of the recession are beginning to abate.”
At last, it seems Burberry is moving away from shaky ground – especially when its impressive new US headquarters open this week and its logo is prominently emblazoned across the Manhattan skyline… perhaps in its iconic plaid pattern?
